In the getto

Originally called The vicious cycle, Elvis Presley sings here about the hard life in the getto. A boy is living a hungry life. His mother cannot feed him, and he has to steal to survive. He dies when he is shot stealing a car. The song ends with a newborn, born on the same day in the same ghetto.

Most of Elvis’ big hits were from the fifties. In 1969 Elvis Presley was making a short lived comeback in Las Vegas. He just finished his film studio contracts, he came back from military service, so he could do music again.

The following years mark the top of Elvis’ popularity, but also the start of many personal problems. Failure of his marriage and substance abuse led to a broken man. He died in 1977, causes unknown. But his deteriorating health condition was clear for everybody.
