Tanzmusik von der Renaissance bis zum Biedermeier

Discogs

Quite an interesting collection of tunes from early modern times. Six records full of them. I bought it because I already found a cd with this kind of music, and I enjoyed listening to it. These records are a collection of recordings made by the Ulsamer Collegium in the Seventies. The Ulsamer Collegium were an ensemble formed around viol and violone player Josef Ulsamer.

The dance music from the later ages is performed by the Ensemble Eduard Melkus, formed around the Austrian violinist of that name. These recordings were also made in the Seventies. Though these are both not very famous ensembles, both recordings quality and performance are superb, and the result as worth a listen.
