Another Sidney Bechet, also as part of a series. This collection is a lot better. I listened to this with joy, even though I’m not usually listening to this old style jazz. The jazz I usually listen to only started when Bechet had already died, in 1959.
Bechet must have been quite a character. He was rather difficult to handle, very domineering, and he knew what he wanted. In a style of music where improvisation is an important trait, someone micro managing what you do seems to be a killer. The music endures though.
