Ignacio

Ignacio is one of the many studio albums for film music that Vangelis created. The first release is from 1975, but my version in from 1983 and bears a different title. The title of this album is confusing to say the least. Also, the track listing. I know versions that have many more parts, and there is also a CD version with the whole in one track. Vangelis is here still publishing under his name Vangelis Papathanassiou.

The music is for a Mexican drama called ¿No oyes ladrar los perros? about a man carrying his wounded child to safety and telling him stories about what his future life will look like. The move was made by cinematographer Reichenbach. All I can find about him are a couple of documentary films.

Both titles come from that movie. One is about a traditional story that is told, where dogs used to be able to speak. They were smart, and helped people that were wronged. However, they misbehaved themselves and got punished: they lost their ability to speak. The title Ignacio was added to this album in the 1977 release, and is the name of the little wounded boy.
