The unforgettable fire

Discogs

What was it about the fire that was so unforgettable? The wiki page refers to an exhibition about the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Probably around the time, the Peace Museum in Chicago held that exhibition, and Bono was impressed. The resulting hitsingle was their first number one in their homeland of Ireland.

Recording of the album took place during ther month of May 1984, in Slane Castle in eastern Ireland. Slane Castle is known for concerts, hosted in an outside natural amphitheater on the castle’s grounds. Really big names have performed here, the likes of Metallica, Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and Oasis.
