The debut record of Amos Lee from 2005. Lee was born as Ryan Anthony Massaro in 1977, but got sick of people mispronouncing his name. His style is a mix of soul, folk and rock. I know him from a version of Boots of Spanish leather. It was featured in a tv series I have seen. It always gave me goosebumps, so I wanted more.
Boots of Spanish leather is a Bob Dylan song from 1964. Lee got his first chance as opener for Bob Dylan, so there is a connection. He’s not sharing Dylan’s protest streak though, so much the better.
I bought this version of the record at a high end audio meeting in Veldhoven, Netherlands. It is an audiophile pressing, meaning based on a new master, and using less pressings per stamper to create a better, more detailed sound. The price is considerably higher. Are the results as well? For this record I cannot really compare, but I’ll get back to you on that.
