Irolt was a Frisian folk band founded by guitarist Nanne Kalma in 1975. In its twelve year’s existence, seven studio albums were released. Irolt did the usual band progression in reverse: they started with more guitars and a traditional Britpop instrumentation, but added more and more acoustic instruments as album after album followed.
Gudrun is a 13th century saga about the beautiful daughter of king Hettel. She wants to marry the king of Zeeland, but is abducted by Hartmoet of Normandy who wants her as his wife. She refuses, and is put to work as a slave as punishment. After years she is rescued by her brother and her betrothed. From what I see of the titles on the album, it is a retelling of this story.
Time has been harsh to Irolt: if I try to look for it on streaming, I find Iron Maiden. So we have gone from Gudrun to Eddy.
