The tongue in cheek porn on this release didn’t stop the band from falling apart. This is Fungus’ fifth and last album. Bandmembers had left the band, and the remaining few didn’t want to go on anymore. Singer Fred Piek didn’t want to stop after the end of the band in 1979, the next year he was already found leading the band The amazing stroopwafels. He is still singing, and had a concert just five days ago in Brielle in the province of Zeeland.
On this album he sings both in English and Dutch. Though the most popular songs were in Dutch, English was an important language for the band from the beginning. Piek is still singing ballad in English in 2015, in a much less nasal voice, I must say. Also without any electrical guitars (I wrote about that yesterday).
