For a few years I was with a girl from the south of the Netherlands that was totally into the north of Europe. She wanted to be a viking as it were, and admired everything about it. She also loved metal, so the combination on this record would appeal to her very much. She was a bit more into death and thrash metal, so maybe this would have been to tame for her.
It is interesting to see where metal from the north was at the time of the classic Metallica. When I discovered the genre that was all I listened to, and I completely missed this nordic world. And when I did discover it, I found out about different bands than what is presented here. Much to my surprise, some of them existed until well after 2010, and one has even restarted this year. You can take the band out of metal, but metal never out of the band.
