Kodály – String Qurtets no 1, 2

Discogs

Zoltán Kodály is a contemporary of Bartok. In fact, both were roaming the Hungarian countryside in the first decade of the 20th century in search of folk melodies. Kodály got more famous because of his teaching method. It formed the basis of musical education in his home country of Hungary.

I found this recording a bit of a challenge I must admit. Somehow it all sounded a bit too chirpy to me, something that usually happens on badly mastered CDs, but was also noticeable here. The other recordings of the Tátrai Quartet that I own were better, so it is not the performers. Or they just had a bad day.
