From what I understand, the Strings of Scotland were a fiddlers ensemble. On this recording they play some well known tunes. These are recordings taken from the Fiddler’s rally. The only one under that name is the still existing Aberdeen Fiddler’s Rally, an annual event taking place in the Tivoli Theatre in the Scottish city.
I don’t know if it is the same. This recording is from 1975, so for all I known the popular festival didn’t exist yet. I have to admit that I’m not very interested to find out more: the record is just not good enough. It might have been something people bought when leaving the theatre after the festival: a little bit to remember the fun they’ve had.
