Eric Woolfson visited Imperial Chemical Industries in England and saw a lane of only pipes, without people. It was called Ammonia Avenue. It was used for the image on the cover. ICI was acquired in 2008 by AkzoNobel.
The album is supposed to concern itself with the theme of lack of communication between the world of science and the outside world. I never found any theme at all on this record.
