The seventh studio album of Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós signifies a return to their indie roots. After hugely successful poppy albums like Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust and () this album is a lot tougher to listen to. It is also considerably less popular in the ears of the public. The days that the band was used in all kinds of movies and series were not over, as in the next year’s The rains of Castamere for the series Game of Thrones. However: this album can be seen as a statement saying: hey, really we are still an artful band!! Did you hear us?
The extra 10 inch that is included in this special, numbered edition has two extras that are also featured on the Japanese print. Nice little extras, but the third song that is included is only for this one. It is not worth it at all, and the listening to it really got on my nerves. Way too repetitive, something that I’m very sensitive for.
