Mory who? Mory Kanté! A little bit too polished African music if you ask me. Mory Kanté came from Guinea, West Africa. He is singing in Mandinka. This is so called world music (because of course the rest is not coming from the world).

Mory Kanté was born in a family of griots. A West African traditional position of storyteller, singer and musician. As storytellers, they were often also considered the leaders. He first came to fame as singer in Salif Keita’s band in 1971, and was mainly known for the huge hit (at least in the Netherlands) Yeke Yeke. That one is not on this record though.
