We hebben poep op de muur van de centrale gesmeerd, vind je dat niet vies?
At the end of the 70s and during the 80s, there were protests against nuclear energy, more specifically against the building of nuclear plants. Many of the songs that were sung during these protests were played by bands that were founded for the occasion. Not everything was recorded, and of those that were, not everything was ever released. I wrote earlier about Drukwerk, from Amsterdam. This one is from the southern city of Eindhoven.
Werktuig wanted to use music as a werktuig for change. As such, they got invited to protest rally’s and political gatherings. What little I could find about them was still spelled in the way these communities wrote: “muziek als werktuig in de maatschappelijke diskussie“. The letter c in discussie was deemed too expensive, so working people use the k. Having been raised in this time, I admit it brings me a certain feel of nostalgia.
