Rage against the machine started to blend rap and metal, and with that they created nu metal. I am okay with that, although I am not a big fan of the genre. I can respect it. I can also respect the activist stance a band can have. Rage is promoting anarchism again corporate America.
What I just cannot handle very well is the sound of singer Zack de la Rocha’s voice. I think he is pushing too much. It sounds like he is constantly faking aggression and anger. It is mannerism in my view. It makes the whole experience insincere.
So why did I buy it? Rage against the machine was immensely popular around 1998, and I just wanted to find out if I liked it I guess. Turns out I didn’t. I think it is the only record that I have in this genre.
