Martinů – Sonates 1-3, nocturnes

Discogs

I’ve treated myself to a new headphone, this time with noise cancellation. For weeks now there is work being done on the outside of my house, and I’m tired of the noise. So right now I’m listening to this in utter bliss. No noise from the work outside, just good music, or silence, also good.

There is an issue with these noise cancellation headphones though: they make the music sound a bit flatter, more processed. I’ve also noted it with this headphone, grateful as I am with the removal of the sanding machines next to my ear.

It is not possible to listen to records, yet, but in the future it will be. As always however, I did listen to the record of the day. It is a beautiful recording of work that I don’t know that well. Even though I play cello whenever I find the time, I don’t listen that much to cello sonatas. Brahms maybe, but Martinů not so much.
